Pearson helped design and complete a beautiful new dental office on scenic Highway 84.

Project Description
Pearson partnered with architect Jane Kittner to design and build a structure that could genuinely be called a work of art. The plot of land located on the creek channel’s banks preserves and captures scenic views of the waterway and surrounding wooded areas. In the spirit of this natural conservation, construction of the facility utilized many green building techniques. The building features a double roof deck with an air space roof system with “Cool Roof” shingles and spray-foam insulation under the floors, walls, and roof. Clerestory windows provide natural lighting. Pearson used low VOC paints, high-efficiency HVAC systems with photocatalytic filter systems, high-efficiency lighting, and dual flush water closets for water conservation. This building’s nonessential electrical powered items and water supply shut off each evening and on weekends for further conservation measures. All rainwater is captured from the roof drainage system and stored in an on-site storage tank and recycled for landscaping and lawn irrigation purposes.
The property contains a sharp slope, presenting several challenges for the construction team. The building’s location in the center of the plot included landscaping leading downhill to the creek. There was little room for crews to get equipment in and out, to work, and for vehicle parking during construction. The architect chose a split-level design for the sloping site, meaning all exterior assembly was completed with unusual ground conditions, requiring specialized equipment for safe access. The foundation is a combination of slab on grade and wood floor trusses. The building has standard wood frame construction with brick/stone veneer, EIFS, shingle roofing, painted drywall, and vinyl wall coverings.
The project’s tight schedule was a challenge. Dr. Donna Miller and Dr. Michelle Hinds set a specific move-in date to continue scheduling patient appointments. The office installed new dental equipment and some from the previous location. Planning the process of disassembly, relocation, and re-installation without interrupting patient care was quite a challenge. The project remained on -schedule, and the dentists were able to continue to see patients.
The structure provides a relaxing, luxurious atmosphere for patients. The floors consist of carpet, seamless vinyl, and ceramic tile. The building also features stained millwork with granite tops, and large plate glass windows offer stunning views of the creek area. Dr. Miller even decided to change her practice’s name from Miller Dental to Creekwood Dental due to the aesthetic quality of the building. The facility has expanded resources to meet patients’ needs, with ten dental operatory chairs, labs, workrooms, waiting rooms, restrooms, and offices.
All work done on behalf of Creekwood Dental completed on-schedule and in-budget.
